MVC: Rain, Rain Go Away

By Jean Neuberger - May 24, 2007

We're under a rain delay as we've reached the middle of the sixth here at Hammons Field. The grounds crew is rolling out the tarps, and the fans are seeking refuge under the giant concourse.

Meanwhile, the Shox regained the lead, as Derek Schermerhorn was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He advanced to third on a sizzling grounder by Matt Brown that got past the glove of SS Tyler Lairson, and scored on a fielder's choice by Conor Gillaspie. The Shocks needed to answer the SIU run in the bottom of the fourth, and though it's only a 2-1 game, Stephenson has to be happy with the way his team responded.

Tarp is on the field, so we'll be here for awhile. 2-1 Wichita in the middle of the sixth.
