MVC: Shocks Grab First Lead of Game

By Jean Neuberger - May 27, 2007

The roars haven't been this loud for the entire tournament.

Wichita State, coming off an amazing comeback to tie it in the 9th, has just grabbed the lead. Tyler Weber led off with a single that just made it over the glove of Bluejays 2B Michael Lam. Cody Lassley replaced him at first as a pinch runner, and he'd advance to second on Noah Krol's bunt that was booted by Scott Reese, leaving both runners safe at first and second.

Andy Dirks then came up, and when WSU needed him the most, he's come through. Dirks hit a shot to the gap in right center for a stand-up double, scoring Lassley and Krol, and the Shocker fans are going insane over on the first base side. Creighton's players are in disbelief, as Wichita State now leads 8-6 with nobody out.
