MVC: Still Delayed, but Tarp Pulled
By Jean Neuberger - May 24, 2007
Giving a quick update here at the Missouri Valley Tournament...
We're still under a rain delay here in the first game, with Wichita State holding a 2-1 lead over Southern Illinois in the middle of the sixth inning. The delay started at 12:38 CDT, and now, we've gone two hours under delay here in Springfield.
The rain stopped a few minutes ago, and the tarp was pulled, so we're hoping baseball starts really quickly. Right now, this game has a projected finishing time of 4:00. That'll mean the second game will start at 5, and the third at 9, meaning that, if we keep on schedule, we'll finish up at midnight here at Hammons Field.
Right now, all of us in the press box have been talking about the latest RPI rankings, and how much they baffle us. What's surprising is that two teams that finished fifth in conference play (Ole Miss and Texas A&M) are ranked in the Top 15 RPI-wise. Larry Templeton, an explanation please?
No sign of the teams (or fans) just yet, but we expect both to find their way back momentarily. We'll have more from Springfield, as we're hoping to get started pretty soon.
