MVC: Wichita Dodges Huge Threat

By Jean Neuberger - May 26, 2007

Remember how I said Wichita needed to get those timely hits to score runs?

Well, Creighton needs a dose of the same stuff.

Wichita P Aaron Shafer retired the first eight batters he faced, but with two outs in the top of the third, the Flying Hawaiian, aka Creighton 2B Michael Lam, hit a sharp ball down the third base line that Conor Gillaspie was lucky to get any part of his glove on. Robbie Knight then singled to right center, advancing Lam to third. Ross Sinclair walked on four straight pitches to load the bases, but Chris Gradoville hit a bouncer to Gillaspie, who stepped on third to snuff out the Bluejay threat.

I think a count will be needed today for runners left on base. So far, Creighton has left three, Wichita has left two.
