MWC: En Garde

The afternoon game between San Diego State and New Mexico is shaping up to be a pitchers' duel with the Lobos holding a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning. It comes as a bit of a surprise with neither pitcher having stellar season numbers. New Mexico's Bobby Lafromboise, while a very capable pitcher with a 3.73 ERA and 6-3 record, isn't usually the type to threaten a complete-game shutout, but he's been dominant in giving up just two hits so far.
SDSU's Bruce Billings, owner of a 4.90 ERA, is pitching well past his typical standards with a one-run effort through seven. It helps that he's been making defensive plays like the double-play he turned in the sixth when he gloved Adam Courcha's line drive up the middle and threw to first before Ian Hollick could get back on base.
