MWC: Learning from My Mistakes
By Jason Owens - May 25, 2007
Fresh off a hard-fought loss to TCU, BYU has gotten off to a big start with a 4-0 lead over UNLV through three innings in the evening elimination game. The Cougars picked up a run in the second and three more in an active third.
I'm not going to make the same mistakes I did earlier though. I'm not going to say the the second-seeded Cougars have seized control of this game. I'm not going to say the sixth-seeded Rebels are a long shot to come back and make this a ball game...
The Rebels are lucky the deficit isn't bigger, but a failed suicide squeeze with the bases loaded and one out held BYU to three runs in the third. Closer Marc Baca came in to get the Rebels out of the jam and he did when caught J.T. Musso's bunt attempt that lined straight back to the pitcher. With Parker having crossed home plate on the squeeze, Baca trotted to second base for the double play and third out of the game.
