MWC: Pitchers Roll Through Eighth

By Jason Owens - May 23, 2007

Through eight innings, New Mexico still holds a 1-0 lead and the pitchers are showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, SDSU's Bruce Billings seems to be getting better as the game goes on. He needed all of five pitches to retire the side in the eighth and has thrown just 84 pitches heading into the ninth.

Bobby Lofromboise, meanwhile, took a page from Billings' book and turned a double play in the eighth when he gloved a popped bunt and threw the runner out at first. So far he's given up four hits and no runs.
