MWC: TCU Breaking Bats, Scoring Runs

By Jason Owens - May 25, 2007

Now this is a first. I've never seen a college batter break a bat, but Austin Adams somehow managed to crack the cap off the top of his aluminum stick when he hit a dribbler that went foul down the first-base line.

He ended up getting a new bat and striking out, but that's about all that went wrong for TCU in the fifth inning as the Horned Frogs opened the flood gates to take a 5-2 lead over Jesse Craig and BYU. The inning was a disaster for the Cougars, who logged three errors and allowed three runs to a dominant team that's not likely to give up a three-run lead.

Keith Conlon came up big again, logging his second hit of the game with a leadoff single, and ended up scoring his second run courtesy of a double from catcher Andrew Walker. Conlon came into the game hitting .399. Something tells me he's over the .400 mark by now.
