MWC: Winning Ugly

By Jason Owens - May 25, 2007

Well, the Lobos aren't playing pretty baseball, but they're playing winning baseball as they picked up another run in the sixth to extend their lead to 4-1 over San Diego State. It just happens that Tony Gwynn's Aztecs are playing a slightly uglier brand of baseball with a scoreboard line that reads:
1 4 3.
It's never good sign to have more errors than runs.

At least New Mexico's latest run was earned. Scott Gracey hit a high hopper up the middle that scored Jay Russell from second base. Of course Russell likely wouldn't have reached second base if pitcher Shane Kaufman hadn't plunked him with a pitch.
