NASHVILLE: 9-3

By Chris Lee - May 19, 2007

Just as Sean Ochinko singled to right, and I went to score it on my card, a gasp erupted from the Hawkins Field crowd followe by applause.

Right fielder Dominic de la Osa alertly threw back to first behind Ochinko at first, who I"m told turned slightly to second while still on the line and then stumbled slightly. The throw went foul-side to Brad French, who applied the tag just before Ochinko got back to the bag.

I didn't see it so I can't pass judgment, but some in the box felt it was a bad call, and LSU coach Paul Mainieri certainly did as he argued for a few moments.

Anyway, it's LSU 1, Vanderbilt 0 with the Commodores already making an out with the leadoff man in the first.
