NASHVILLE: Another inning, another baserunning mistake for LSU

By Chris Lee - May 19, 2007

LSU coach Paul Mainieri has got to be pulling his hair out. The Tigers have out-hit Vandy 6-5, but trail 3-1 due to some horrid baserunning mistakes and Vanderbilt double plays.

The latest fiasco came when the not-so-fleet-footed Sean Ochinko looped a single to left. Left fielder Matt Meingasner got over and played it cleanly, then threw to shorstop Ryan Flaherty, who threw to Alex Feinberg just in time to nail a sliding Ochinko at second.

That's the third time the Tigers have been thrown out from the outfield in six innings today, one resulting in a double play. Another 6-4-3 double play also ended a fourth-inning would-be rally.

It's Vanderbilt 3, LSU 1 as the Commodores just went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the sixth.
