NASHVILLE: Crowell gets out of jam

By Chris Lee - May 19, 2007

Vandy's Cody Crowell gave up a leadoff walk to Blake Dean and a hard-hit single by Sean Ochinko in the fourth, but managed to get out of the inning without any runs behind one of the ugliest double plays you'll ever see and a strikoeut of Jared Mitchell.

After showing bunt early and with the infield in, Nicholas Pontiff hit a slow grounder to Ryan Flaherty at short. Ochinko had a running start and I thought he beat the throw to second, but was ruled out. Second baseman threw a weak one-hopper to Brad French at first that just beat Pontiff.

Crowell then fanned Mitchell for his second strikeout of the game, and we're still tied at one in Nashville after three complete. LSU's Jared Bradford is throwing a nice game for the Tigers so far.
