SEC: Another In-State Battle

By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007

After Tennessee-Vanderbilt, it's time for a higher-octane rivalry, at least on this night anyway. Ole Miss and Mississippi State have done their introductions, and I have to say, we heard the first boos of the day, and they came when Ole Miss took the field for warmups!! But there are just as many Ole Miss fans as Bulldogs fans, so let's get ready to rumble.

For Ole Miss, it will be righty Will Kline, who comes in with a 5-2 reord in 15 starts to go along with a 3.92 ERA. He's got 113 K's in 101 innings.

Lefty Justin Pigott will throw for the Bulldogs. He comes in with a 5-5 record and a 4.69 ERA in 12 starts and 13 appearances. Opponents are hitting a hefty .301 against him though.

The bad news for the loser of this game, and it should be more incentive for them to win, is that they have to come back at 2pm tomorrow to face the best pitcher in the nation, David Price.

Ouch.

The Bulldogs have taken the field, and we're finally set for our 9:35 first pitch. Rain has stopped for now and it's a gorgeous 75 degrees.

It's pretty cool to have seen two of the best pitching performances EVER in the SEC tournament on the same day...And it's only Day One. Maybe a third? We shall see....Stay tuned..
