SEC: Coach's Son Comes Thru
By Doug Kroll - May 24, 2007
Tony Delmonico just launched a three run homer in the top of the sixth that woke up everybody from a deep slumber, to cut the lead in half and make it 6-3. It went high into the night in deep left (the only spot balls have gone out the last two nights).
Which brings up something that was talked about before, that this is a big park for these kids. I would agree, but some said it's the biggest that any of them will ever see. Which isn't true. It's 340 down the lines and 405 to center. Yes the 340 is pretty far, and the gaps are pretty big, but the grounds at jacksonville can give this place a run for its money any day as far as distant and winds are concerned.
But yes, not too many balls getting out of here, especially to center and right.
Give credit to Lance McClain of Tennessee who has shut the door basically on Ole Miss, allowing just one run in 5 2-3 innings since taking over for Cobb in the first inning.
Lance Lynn will head out for the 7th to try and bounce back after a tough sixth.
