SEC: First Pitch

By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007

We're underway here from Regions Park. The smoke from the wildfires in Georgia and Florida have settled in on the area, making for very hazy conditions and an awful smell. But baseball is being played. The first game pits No. 2 Arkansas against No. 7 Alabama.

Here's a quick look at the pitching matchup:
Arkansas: LHP Nick Schmidt- 9-3 3.08 ERA 108 IP, 101 strikeouts, opponents hitting just .211
Alabama: RHP Tommy Hunter- 7-4 3.59 ERA 100.1 IP, 90 strikeouts, opponents are hitting .242

Not a bad crowd for the 10 oclock start. Lots of Crimson Tide in the stands, even on the firstbase side which Arkansas is occupying.

Nick Schmidt through the top of the first with three harmless flyball outs. Here come the Razorbacks.
