SEC: It's Intense
By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007
I've been waiting for the intensity to pick up all day. With a couple of clunkers on either end of the 12 inning game which featured very few fans of Florida or S.C., we finally have ourselves a nice crowd, and Ole Miss and Miss. State fans plain don't like each other.
They are loud, they are angry, and they get on the players about everything. Every pitch they holler and scream and clap. This is what SEC baseball is all about. In the bottom of the first, the Bulldogs' Brian LaNinfa thought he walked on a 3-1 pitch, but halfway down to first, realized it was called strike two. Well, that walk back to home he got serenaded with some of the nicest things you'll ever here from the Ole Miss fans. Then they all stood in unison and roared as the payoff pitch was dealt. LaNinfa swung and missed, and they all went bazerk. Gotta love it.
Now it's 1-0 after two singles and a walk in the inning, Ole Miss leads it in the second. The Ole Miss fans again got all over the Bulldogs, this time when the ump allowed a meeting on the mound to last a little too long for their liking. I would tend to agree, being that it's 10:07 and we're in the top of the 2nd
