SEC: Magic Number 14
By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007
Florida's Kyle Mullaney had thrown (unofficially) 14 pitches in each of the first three innings. He was all set to get out of the fourth with 14 pitches, but Cheyne Hurst walked, leading to a 16 pitch inning!
So through four now, Mullaney has pitched in and out of trouble to a 3-0 lead, even though he's walked four and struckout only one.
A couple of misc. notes:
- This is the 27th time Florida has made a trip to teh SEC Tournament. That leads the conference.
-The last time Florida met the Gamecocks here in Hoover wasin 2000, a 12-4 UF win.
This is the first time I've been able to see Matt LaPorta since last season when UF swept Miami in Coral Gables. So far, Honeycutt has kept him in check with two lazy flyballs to left, and a pop out to shortstop. That .419 average is no more.
