SEC: Oot Oot Is Out

By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007

You can't come to a South Carolina game and not expect to see the famous Oot-Oot guy. He roams around yelling,"OOT OOT" all day long. He even was doing so during the first game between Arkansas-Alabama. So that's that.

The haze has lifted a bit, and the smell is gone, which is a plus. South Carolina's ace, Harris Honeycutt, blew through the first inning against the Gators' top third of the lineup. He struck out the two swinging, and then got Player of the Year candidate Matt LaPorta on a pop up to leftfield. Honeycutt is 7-5 in 13 starts, 14 appearances, with a 3.74 ERA, with 92 strikeouts in 77 innings, heading into this one, nice numbers.

For Florida it's a freshman righthander on the hill. Six-foot-one righty Kyle Mullaney takes to the bump. In four starts and 17 appearnaces, the freshman is 4-2 with a 4.78 ERA entering today. He's not a strikeout guy, with only 23 in 49 innings, but has had pretty good control, walking 17.

South Carolina has two on in the bottom of the first, looking to jump on Mullaney.
