SEC: Record Setting Night

By Doug Kroll - May 24, 2007

It's mercifully over here in Hoover, as Arkansas remains undefeated here and will get the Friday bye and will not play again until Saturday. South Carolina plays Florida tomorrow in the first game of the day, which is a rematch of the 4-3 12 inning affair from yesterday. But this time the loser goes home.

So, the Hogs win it 6-0, here's the final line on Jess Todd:

Eight innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, 17 strikeouts (like that ratio???), not to mention starting the game by striking out the first nine Gamecocks that he faced.

The 17 K's is a SEC Tournament record, and an Arkansas record, for most strikeouts by an individual in a game.

Up next, Tennessee and Ole Miss battle in the second game of the winner's bracket this evening which will likely get underway at about 820-830pm local time.

Will have that pitching matchup and preview in a little bit. Have to stretch the legs. Today is going much faster than yesterday. No 12 inning games help things. (Don't get any ideas Vols or Rebs).
