SEC: Same Ole Story

By Doug Kroll - May 24, 2007

I forgot to mention this before, so here's this tidbit: Ole Miss and Mississippi State played four times this year. A three game series at Ole Miss which the Rebels took two out of three, with the Bulldogs winning Sunday's game in 17 innings, 4-1, while the fourth was the first annual Governer's Cup in Pearl, Miss, in which the Bulldogs won. So the series is tied at 2 and 2. And don't look now but Mississippi State has taken the last seven meetings between these two teams in the SEC tourney.

We're mercifully through four and a half here, and it's ONLY 11:15. After scoring two in the top of the second, Ole miss threatened in the fifth with two runners on and one out, and after Piggot got Zack Cozart out, Justin Henry lined a two strike single to centerfield to add another run, and make it 3-0. Cody Overbeck then grounded out sharply to Russ Sneed at third who stepped on third to end the inning, and making up for an error earlier in the game.

The crowd has emptied out a bit, even a little less than were here for the start of the game. After all, there is work tomorrow. Or some more tournament. First pitch is at 10am central, sportscenter and sleep for this guy this evening...Errr, morning...
