SEC: Top Tenn Rivalry

By Doug Kroll - May 23, 2007

Vanderbilt and Tennessee are set to take the field here in Hoover for Game Three of the day. So far, everything has been true to form, with each higher seed moving into the winner's bracket. The Vols will be looking to pull the upset to try and change that.

Tennessee leads the all-time series 161-135-2 over Vanderbilt, and a 5-1 record against the 'Dores in the SEC Tournament. It's been a long long time since they last faced each other in the tourney, though. You have to go back to 1995 when they last met and split a pair of games that year.

This year's season series saw Vandy take all three games at home from the Vols, with two one-run games and a two run win.

For Vandy, it will be righty Brett Jacobson on the mound. Jacobson is 5-1 with a 3.12 ERA. For Tennessee, lefty James Adkins will be on the mound. Adkins is 6-7 with a 3.01 ERA and has 128 strikeouts in 113 2-3 IP.

We're underway from Hoover.
