UA-LSU: Loose Ends Update

By Jean Neuberger - May 04, 2007

We're headed to innning number five, with LSU leading #7 Arkansas 3-2.

Here's the update on what we've been watching....

Jake Dugger is playing well defensively so far, but he's 0-2 at the plate. Then again, most all of the Hogs are 0-2 tonight...Ryan Byrd is pitching superbly for the Tigers right now.

Brian Walker, who's hit a homer in his last four games, is also hitting the big bagel tonight.

Schmidt has six strikeouts after four innings, while Byrd has three.

SIDE NOTES: With a fly out to left field in the fourth, Arkansas 1B Danny Hamblin broke the school record for career at-bats, with 881.

Attendance figures continue to climb...we're hearing reports of possibly over 9,000 here tonight in the stadium. Judging the crowd right now, that would not surprise me.

Vandy defeated Georgia 8-5 on a three-run double by de la Osa in the 9th inning. That, coupled with a 2-1 Ole Miss lead right now, adds a lot of pressure on Arkansas to come from behind and win this game.
