UA-LSU: Pitcher's Duel Continues

By Jean Neuberger - May 05, 2007

The RBI Girls are dancing to the Grease song "You're The One That I Want", as we've concluded five innings of play, with #7 Arkansas still clinging to a 1-0 lead.

The Hogs have had their chances, especially in the last inning. Brian Walker singled to right, and then, in a move that matches a solar eclipse in its rarity, Walker stole second base. How rare was it? The last time he stole a base was March 10, 2006 against Cal-State Northridge. That was good enough for a huge standing ovation from the crowd.

However, after Ben Tschepikow walked, Forsythe couldn't get the runners home, popping out to shallow center to end the threat. It seems as if the same Razorbacks are in the critical positions every time lately. How many times have the names Tschepikow and Forsythe been mentioned today?

Both Jess Todd and Charlie Forbush are pitching gems, but pitch count is becoming a concern. Todd's pitch count was at 87 after five innings, while Forbush was at 90. Nolan Cain is warming up for the Tigers, but no action is coming out of the Arkansas bullpen so far.
