UA-LSU: Two Hits
By Jean Neuberger - May 04, 2007
Want to sum up this game after six innings of play?
Two hits.
For a team that's been averaging nine runs in the last two weeks (and eight games), the Razorbacks have been shut down tonight by Ryan Byrd. Byrd is pitching the game of his life, shutting down the Arkansas attack and giving LSU a chance to pull off a huge win in front of a huge crowd here at Baum Stadium.
Nick Schmidt has kept the Hogs in it. In fact, take those two hits away from LSU in the second inning, and Arkansas is up 2-0 in this game. However, Schmidt is approaching 100 pitches for the game...leaving Van Horn in the tough dilemma as to whether he keeps his ace on the mound or goes for a reliever.
LSU's thrown several guys in the bullpen (Cain, Bertuccini, and Bradford), but so far are sticking with the red-hot Byrd.
It's LSU up a run as we head into the seventh.
