UA/MSU: Its long-sleeve weather in Starkville

By Mark Etheridge - May 18, 2007

Starkville, Mississippi doesn't get a lot of 50-degree weather. Its on the way tonight with a low of 47 planned. Last night Alabama's Tommy Hunter took advantage of the mild temps to throw a 144 pitch complete game in Alabama's 4-3 victory.

Mississippi State's bats are plenty warm as they have touched Alabama starter Miers Quigley (4-6/4.66) for two hits and two runs in the first.

MSU starter Justin Pigott (4-5/5.04) shut Alabama down 1-2-3 in the first.

Bama shook up the lineup against the crafty lefty Pigott. After six lefthanded hitters stacked the lineup last night, tonight's version has five righthanded hitters.

UA cleanup hitter Kent Matthes just smacked a double to right that MSU rightfielder Mitch Moreland took a terrible angle on. That really shouldn't come as a huge surprise since Moreland has played first all season and is just making his third start in right.

2-0 Bullies top 2.
