Under way at the Dude

Mississippi State tries to pump up their Regional host resume as they taken on Alabama at Dudy Noble Stadium tonight. The Bulldogs enter at 32-16 overall and 14-11 in the conference. Alabama is aiming for a trip to Hoover for the SEC Tournament next week. They are 29-23 overall and 13-14 in the conference. Two wins for the Tide gets them to .500 in SEC play and that gets them in the postseason discussion as well.

A lots at stake here this weekend. I haven't even mentioned the fact that Tuscaloosa is 90 miles from Starkville. We've got a border tussle on our hands.

MSU is starting Chad Crosswhile. He allowed a pair of first inning hits but escaped damage with a popup and strikeout to leave Bama runners on the corners.

Tommy Hunter started for Bama and allowed a walk but escaped undamaged in his opening frame.

After 1 - no score.
