Vols close it out

The Rebels got to within a run in the ninth on RBI singles from Zach Miller and Evan Button. With the tying run on second base, Fuller Smith tapped to short but Button beat the throw to second. That loaded the bases with two outs for nine-hole hitter Brett Basham. Lockwood struck out Basham to end the game.

Jeff Lockwood worked the final two frames to collect the five save of his freshman season as Tennessee beat Ole Miss 7-4. The win clinched the series for the Vols who won a dramatic game Friday 3-2. Tennessee improves to 27-19 overall and 10-11 in the SEC. Ole Miss drops to 31-18 and 12-11 in league play.

Danny Wiltz (2-0) got the win. Lance Lynn (5-4) got the loss. Andy Simunic had the game's only home run, his first of the season. A six-run Volunteer seventh inning provided the margin.

Tennessee tries to complete the sweep Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
