Chapel Hill: Hot and Sunny in Chapel Hill

By Kenny Cook - June 04, 2007

The rains of yesterday are a distant memory, as today it is expected to be 88 degrees and mostly sunny. It's already steaming here. Eric Sorenson would love it.

North Carolina is the visiting team for this game, needing just one win to take the Regional title. They'll pitch Luke Putkonen (7-1, 4.23). Western Carolina is the official home team for this game and will start Tyler Johnson (3-3, 6.04). Coach Todd Raleigh said last night that he may use a potpourri of pitching to get through this game, and he hopes a second game.

Here are the lineups and hitting stats in the tournament (if my math is correct):
UNC
Fronk LF (3/10)
Fedroff RF (4/9)
Ackley 1B (2/9)
Federowicz C (4/8)
Horton SS (5/8)
Flack 3B (2/8)
Seager DH (1/5)
Williams CF (2/5)
Gore 2B (3/7)

WCU
Shaft DH (8/14)
Murphy C (2/12)
Strausbaugh (6/13)
Smith 2B (5/15)
Greene LF (5/11)
Ingram 1B (7/12)
Liles (2/10)
Wilson CF (4/11)
Greer SS (1/11)

Both teams have used the same starting lineups for all their games in this regional, deciding to dance with the ones that brung 'em.
