Chapel Hill: WCU Takes Advantage

By Kenny Cook - June 03, 2007

Western Carolina wound up with 4 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead. Josh Dowdy hit two batters and walked a third before 9-hole hitter Brent Greer delivered a three run double. ECU right fielder Ryan Tousley had to slog through the puddles in right field to chase it down.

I just learned a scoring rule that I didn't know. John Ingram hit a ground ball to second base that hit runner Jonathan Greene on the foot. Greene was ruled out and Ingram awarded first base. I would think that should be scored a fielder's choice due to runner's interference, but Ingram was given a hit on the play. At least according to GameTracker, so I'll have to believe that's the correct ruling. Anyone know for sure?
