Charlottesville: Virginia strikes first

By Barney Breen-Portnoy - June 04, 2007

Virginia scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to break the ice here in Charlottesville. The big hit was a two-run single to right by Mike Mitchell. OSU's Braden Wells almost made the catch but pulled up just short on the sinking line drive. The ball bounced away from him and Beau Seabury and Jeremy Farrell scored easily. Later in the inning, Tyler Cannon drove a double over the head of Wells to the warning track, driving in Mitchell.
Turpen was replaced by Blake Keitman after the Mitchell single.
