Corvallis: Looks like we might get some baseball
By Casey Grogan - June 10, 2007
Mother Nature is trying her hardest to delay this series once again. It looked like the clouds would pass but they opened up and it is starting to sprinkle again. It should stop soon though. We have the same pitching match-up that was set to to take place yesterday as Beaver freshmen Jorge Reyes takes the hill against Michigan's Zach Putnam.
On the hill it is hard to pick who has the advantage as neither pitcher has thrown in a Super Regional game before. On numbers alone Reyes gets the nod. The bats of the Wolverines have the advantage on offense. Michigan is hitting .333 thus far against a Beaver club that is hitting .286 on the year.
The Wolverine bullpen may also have an advantage over Oregon State. The Wolverines play four game set's against conference foes while OSU plays three game sets. this gives Michigan a starting arm in the bullpen, ready at the call.
All those categories aside OSU may have the greatest advantages of all. Michigan has only lost six games on the road, but OSU has never lost more than two series' in a row at home, something that would have to change for Michigan to go to Omaha. OSU also has the experience advantage over the Wolverines. UM has not been past the Regionals since the early 1980's. Oregon State however has been to Omaha two years in a row including that National Championship run last season.

More from Cow-valley after the game. I realized I can not call this Corn-valley anymore because we don't have corn... but we do have cows and sheep.
