CWS: Everyone Knows It's Windy

By Doug Kroll - June 17, 2007

Story of today...The Wind! A stiff southerly breeze has swept over Omaha, and you know what that means? A wind that is blowing straight out to leftcenter. And I mean, the wind is blowing so hard that the flagpole is moving, and bent towards left. The forecast calls for temperatures right around 90 again, and wind gusts up to 35 MPH. Bottom line? Expect some high scoring affairs.

If there wasn't a wind, we'd have a pretty good pitching matchup, but I don't see how Louisville and Mississippi State aren't going to put up a ridiculous amount of runs.

On the hill today for the homestanding Bulldogs, is righty Chad Crosswhite, who is 8-4 with a 4.24 ERA in 10 starts and 21 appearances. He's thrown pretty well this postseason, so we'll see if he can keep that up against a potent Louisville lineup.

For the Cards, it will be lefty Justin Marks, who is 8-2 with a 2.54 ERA, and opponents are hitting a paultry .188 against him. Plain and simple, he's been tremendous. He gave up just one run against Okie State last week, and that one run was his only hit given up as well, a homerun.

A battle of a couple of hot pitchers to try to stave off elimination here in Omaha. In about three hours, we'll be down to seven teams remaining (tear).

As always, we'll be back with postgame analysis, but for now, tune to Gametracker. Enjoy it everybody.
