CWS: Welcome To The Postseason, Dustin Ackley
By Doug Kroll - June 20, 2007
North Carolina's Dustin Ackley has officially arrived in the 2007 postseason, as he hit his first postseason homerun and broke out of a brutally tough stretch to keep the Tar Heels alive, as they won 6-1 over Rice. The two teams will now meet on Thursday to decide who will move on to the championship series.
The Heels got some good pitching from Robert Woodard who slowed down a tough Rice lineup, and got RBI from Josh Horton, Reid Fronk, Tim Fedroff, and then a three run homerun that broke the game open by Ackley in the top of the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
Ryan Berry is your loser, he falls to 11-3 as he gets hit with his second non-quality start of the CWS, while Woodard improves to 11-2 on the year.
More to come from Rosenblatt, but we know at this point we will not have two days off in a row. We just don't know if we'll be playing just at six tomorrow, or both 1pm and 6pm central like we have been. All depends on tonight's game between Oregon State and UC Irvine.
