Fayetteville: Calling the....Dogs?
By Jean Neuberger - June 02, 2007
We've got creative juices flowing in the stands at Baum already, as a group of about five or six Arkansas fans have united behind the Danes and are rallying the small band of Albany fans. This included "Calling the Dogs", in which "Pig" was replaced with "Dog".
The reaction from the UAlbany fans? They love it..loud cheers are being given down the third base line for this small group of Arkansas fans.
Meanwhile, both pitchers have faced some difficulty in the first.
Albany's Cory Warrings retired the first two batters, before walking the next two to give the Jays a runner in scoring position. However, the Creighton spark was doused on a ground ball to short by Steve Winkelmann.
Albany responded with some bite to their newfound barks. Al Barbato was walked, and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Leo Corvino. Steve Wyland got an infield single, but a great defensive stop by 2B Michael Lam saved a run on the play. The Danes would score on a fielder's choice to third that scored Barbato.
So Creighton's fallen into a hole again after one, albeit a small one. We head to the second with Albany up 1-0, and I'm going to head to the stands to get some fan reactions.
