Fayetteville: Hogs Looking Ahead
By Jean Neuberger - June 02, 2007
Arkansas did little celebrating in their 9-0 win over Albany. Rather, they focused on what lies ahead for them tomorrow night: a winner's bracket game against Oklahoma State.
"We had another night of outstanding pitching and good defense," said Razorback skipper Dave Van Horn, who picked up his 200th win at Arkansas. "It was really wet out there, and very hard to make the throws in the infield, so we did a good job."
Even a 50 minute rain delay was no match for Duke Welker tonight.
"I was excited to be out there," said Welker. "I just looked at it as another game, and I was excited to get out there and help us win in the regional."
The play of the game was Logan Forsythe's 3-run homer...or whatever you can call that at-bat.
"I didn't think it was gone at all," said Forsythe. "I was waiting to see if the ball was going to be caught. I saw the left fielder go for it, and then it appeared that he kinda slam dunked the ball over the fence."
"All the blood ran out of me when I saw that ball bounce in the bullpen," said Albany Coach John Mueller. "We thought we could scrap back, but we didn't make plays."
Arkansas did though, getting hits early and often. It's something the Hogs have been good at all season, and it's something the Razorbacks must do against Oklahoma State tomorrow.
"They're one of the best offensive teams we'll see," said Van Horn. "They can score runs fast. No lead is safe with them. We have to play good defense again, and when we get a chance to score, we've got to score."
