Fullerton: Rowdy Fans Glad to Have Titans Home
By Jason Owens - June 09, 2007
After having to watch their Titans travel for Regionals, the Fullerton fans were more than ready to make up for missed time in today's 12-2 win over UCLA. They were numerous, loud and sometimes obnoxious in cheering the Titans on.
The sellout crowd was sprinkled with Bruins fans, but they didn't stand a chance in enemy territory. I saw plenty of pregame drinking in the parking lot that came in handy when UCLA Coach John Savage argued a call or even when Bruin first baseman Jermaine Curtis got hit by a pitch. One fan didn't seem to think that Curtis was actually hurt. But the crowd favorite today was the "left-right, left-right" chant that serenaded UCLA players and coaches as they walked back to the dugout.
I don't mean to paint the whole stadium as obnoxious, though. There were just a few very vocal and inspired fans who stood out from the crowd. In fact, the fans showed some pride and goodwill toward a rival, cheering when it was announced that fellow Big West member UC Irvine had won today.
The superfan of the day was an old man wearing a neck brace sitting just left of the press box. Whatever injury he suffered didn't keep him from being the loudest guy in his section.
I sat outside just in front of the press box which, unlike last week in Tempe, was a treat. It was great to catch some sun in 70 degree weather, not 106 degree weather. Being in Southern California, I expect just about the same on Sunday. I just hope to see a more competitive game.

The Fullerton fans were more than obnoxious today. They were brutal and not just vocally. I saw a few Bruin fans taking a physical beating today too. For the most part Titan fans are very good and while vocal, respectful too, but they need to get some security out there tomorrow and monitor what was going on because a few Titan fans went WAY over the line today.

What about those Titan fans sitting in the box seats inthe front row? Those guys were out of their minds! The Bruin cathcer got an earful every single time he got to the plate.
