Myrtle Beach: Almost Exciting

By Doug Kroll - June 03, 2007

Trailing 11-6 in the 9th, Coastal tried to make it a little interesting, but as I've always learned, homeruns are rally killers. Alan Farina came on in relief for the Tigers and promptly gave up a leadoff double to Tommy Baldridge and a homerun to Matt Rademacher, his seventh of the year to cut the lead to 11-8. After a visit to the mound, Derek Martin singled to rightfield, but Dock Doyle hit into a double play to clear the bases.

Tyler Bortnick launched a ball deep to left but missed being fair by only a foot, before he popped out to shortstop to end the ballgame.

Ryan Hinson is your winner, as he moves to 6-2 on the year, while David Anderson gets the loss and falls to 5-4.

Anderson pitched tremendous baseball all day long and didn't have anything left when he gave up the three run homer to Marquez Smith in the 9th to bust the game wide open, and which proved to be very important.

D'Alessio drove in four and went 3-for-4 on the day, while Hogan went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

For Coastal, Rademacher drove in two, while Sappelt, Raber, Doyle and Vrable all knocked in a run.

St. John's and Coastal Carolina coming up in about 20 minutes or so, as Clemson moves on to tomorrow's championship game against tonight's winner. Be back in a bit with a preview.
