Myrtle Beach: Errors and More Errors
By Doug Kroll - June 03, 2007
It figures that VCU only had three errors in their last 20 or so games, and after three errors on Thursday against Coastal Carlina, the Rams have three more errors today. Second-baseman Richard Gonzalez has made two of the errors, one of them you can blame on the water that hasn't drained yet that came off of the tarp. Gonzalez wheeled around on what looked like an ordinary groundball, but threw it way off line, which allowed Smith to come around and score. Mahoney just scored on a Chris Anninos single to leftfield, his third RBI of the game, to give St. John's a 4-2 lead.
Leonard is out of the ballgame after 61 pitches, but you have to keep in mind that hour delay had something to do with the decision to take him out. VCU brought in their closer Luke Pisker, their most consistant pitcher.
VCU is looking to come back here in the fifth, with first and third and nobody out against the Red Storm's starter Yecker.
Kwan Evans grounded into a 4-6-3 DP that plated a run to make it 4-3 St. John's with two outs. Then Jared Bolden just launched a double to the centerfield gap, which will chase Yecker and bring in a reliever, Ryan Cole.
