Myrtle Beach: Former Pelicans
By Doug Kroll - June 01, 2007
With St. John's still leading things 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th, let's take a look at some former Myrtle Beach Pelicans who have made it to the big show.
Just on the 2004 squad, look at these names that were all on the Braves Single-A team together. Just shows you what a great job management has done with the farm system in Atlanta:
2004:
Brian McCann (.278, 16 HR, 66 RBI, 111 Games)
Jeff Francoeur (.293, 15 HR, 52 RBI, 88 Games)
Scott Thorman (.299, 4 HR, 29 RBI, 43 Games)
Blaine Boyer (10-10, 2.98 ERA)
Kyle Davies (9-2, 2.63 ERA)
Then back in 2001, Wilson Betemit came through here as a 19 year old. He would wind up in the majors at the end of the year.
Rafael Furcal was here in 2000 as well.
So as you can see, some major talent has come through here for the Pelicans.
