Myrtle Beach: Setting Up The Rematch

By Doug Kroll - June 03, 2007

Oh boy, where to start. First of all, Coastal Carolina wins 6-5 after trailing 5-3 in this one. If you're St. John's, pat each other on the back for an outstanding season, and an outstanding regional. They are going to head back to Queens and feel like they could have easily won this thing. They blew that game against Clemson, beat VCU, and blew this one against Coastal, on a call that could have gone either way.

Chris Anninos of St. John's drove in 7 runs and hit three homers in two games. Your winner is Nick McCully who goes two innings and strikes out three to pick up his seventh win of the year. Justin Gutsie is your loser, as he falls to 0-1 on the year after giving up an unearned run in the 8th, after pitching 3 innings not giving up a hit! That's a tough loss.

So this sets up a Coastal Carolina-Clemson matchup for Monday at 3 o'clock. And if Coastal wins the first game, then we'll play again at 7 o'clock. No question that the crowd was real good for that one, so it should be real good once again tomorrow.

It's time to follow things now on the cell phone back on the hotel room. One final time, your top two seeds of the Myrtle Beach Regional advance to tomorrow's championship, after the Chanticleers beat the Red Storm, 6-5 in comeback fashion.

Until tomorrow, from Coastal Federal Field, good night everybody.
