Oxford: Bat switch
By Chris Kieffer - June 01, 2007
A bat switch worked out for Southern Miss shorstop Brian Dozier in the seventh inning.
Facing a 2-2 count, Dozier called time, walked to the dugout and grabbed another bat. He then hit a 3-2 double, his second double and third extra base hit of the game.
It didn't result in a run however. Golden Eagles lead 14-1 in the bottom of the eighth.
USM starter Ryan Belanger went seven innings, allowing one run on eight hits with no walks and four Ks. Jonathan Johnston now pitching for Southern Miss.
Warm day in Oxford. Several Southern Miss fans are fanning themselves with fans shaped like the Golden Eagle mascot.
