Southern Miss preserved the tie by ending the eighth with a stike-em-out, throw-em-out double play as Keith Stein was thrown out trying to steal second.
Sam Houston closer Luke Prihoda just entered the game. He threw three innings yesterday but said after the game he's thrown effectively the day after going three innings before.
Southern Miss' Luke Adkins is on first with no outs.
