Tallahassee: Looking lucky
By Michael McGuffee - June 02, 2007
We may just get lucky here in Tallahassee as it looks like Tropical Storm Barry is heading northeast and up the coast -- my condolences to those regionals that will suffer accordingly.
There are still some winds and showers lingering from last night and it's certainly not looking pretty at the ballpark, but it should get progressively better in time to clear up for tonight and tomorrow.
Stetson and Bethune-Cookman will play first in soggy but playable conditions -- we certainly won't complain.
Stetson and Bethune-Cookman played four times throughout the regular season, with the Hatters taking three out of the four. However, neither team has seen today's starting pitchers and both look pretty good.
For the Wildcats it will be 6-foot-6 senior Dustin Blackwell (8-5), who holds a team-low 2.86 ERA. Blackwell was the winning pitcher when B-CU beat Tennessee 8-4 Feb. 18.
Stetson saved team ace Corey Kluber (11-2) with a 2.19 ERA, hoping they would be in tonight's winner's game, who has held opposing hitters to .217 batting average.
The Hatters blamed five errors and ten strikeouts for yesterday's loss to Mississippi State, while Bethune-Cookman gave Florida State a good fight before giving up a five-run seventh inning.
