Tempe: Shocking -- ASU Takes Lead
By Jason Owens - June 02, 2007
Behind a rowdy crowd of ASU supporters giving what I thought was the shocker hand signal in cheering their Sun Devils on, ASU posted a two-run fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead over Riverside. Ike Davis and Petey Paramore both picked up RBI in the inning.
I also learned from an ASU graduate working in the media that they're not actually giving the shocker, but a pitchfork sign. You know -- like the devil's pitchfork. And if you don't know what the shocker is, I'm not going to explain it.

After much explaining and physical motioning I think Jason understands the idea behind our "Go Devils" pitchfork. So you wanna learn how to do it? Take your pointer, middle and pinky finger. Lift them all high up into the air while holding your ring finger down with your thumb. Make sure you keep your fingers seperated because you don't want to end up doing the shocker as Jason pointed out. Enjoy and fork 'em Devils!

I would like to express my sincere hatred for you for stealing our hand sign. Your so-called "pitchfork" is a blatant robbery of the University of Houston's Cougar Paw. I would like to know when you thieves invented said "pitchfork." Legal action is pending.
