Wichita: Now The Game Gets Started

By Callie Wasson - June 01, 2007

Conor Gillaspie gets a hit to first for the Shockers to start off the bottom of the 2nd. A double out for Wichita State as Gillaspie tries for 2nd and Workman gets out at first. New Orleans get the third out from WSU's Tyler Hill, and that closes out the 2nd inning.

Something that is really fun about this game is the stuff they have availiable for the kids. There is a pitching game that allows you to time your own pitch. Kids were lined up to have fun with that game.

New Orleans has 2 out at the top of the 3rd with 4 runs altogether. WSU's Schermerhorn forces the batter out at first to end the inning for New Orleans.

The clouds seem to finally moving away from the game. For a moment there we might have had a repeat of the Arizona/Oral Roberts game, but that does not look like it is going to happen.

WSU catcher Tyler Weber is now batting for the Shocks. He has 1 ball and 2 strikes so far. Weber hits a foul that comes up high the the box seats. Weber gets a hit that is missed by NO's outfield and he makes it to first base.

New Orleans' pitcher Cryer throws three straight stikes to WSU's Coleman and that gives WSU their first out. WSU DH Andy Dirks hits the ball straight by the second baseman to move Weber to second and him to first. Schermerhorn keeps things rolling, and the Shockers have bases loaded. Sublett comes up to bat and bats in Weber and Dirks, so the Shockers are now on the board with 2 runs.
