Wichita: Things are looking up
By Callie Wasson - June 02, 2007
Brendan Duffy starts off the hitting for the Golden Eagles. Shocker pitcher is Rob Musgrave. Musgrave stikes out Duffy for ORU's 1st out. WSU's Coleman catches a pop up hit by Minissale, and that's 2 outs for ORU. ORU's Kahaulelio gets a hit that sends him to 1st base, ORU's first hit of the afternoon.
After the 1st inning. The score stands at WSU 2 and ORU 0.
Sullivan walks another player at the top of the 2nd, Andy Dirks (WSU). Schermerhorn goes up, and gets a hit that sends Dirks to 3rd.
As ORU meets at the mound, WSU's mascot WUShock comes out to mingle with the crowd. Now a lot of people have no idea what WUShock is, and I am here to tell you that he is a shock of wheat (not a bumblebee). The great debate between none Wichita State students and fans has ended. Visit WSU's website to get the full story.
ORU now brings in a new pitcher, #17 Jeremy Hefner. Sublett is the first Shocker up against Hefner. And Sublett is walked. Matt Brown is the third out for WSU, and the two teams head in with the Shockers going scorless at the top of the 2nd inning.
Bottom of the 2nd inning, ORU has two men on base. Carter McQuigg is up to bat, with a bunt that gets him out at first, but ORU advances to third and second base. ORU gets their first run of the game with #24 Brain Van Kirk coming into home plate on a single hit by Genao. ORU is on a roll with their second run by Warfle with a double by Younger.
Score is now tied 2-2.
After a brief meeting with his catcher, Musgrave was able to strike out ORU's Duffy for the 2nd out. Minissale becomes the Golden Eagles' 3rd out. Score still stands as it did before at the end of the 2nd inning.
