A Trip To The Big House

It's a tradition that even the Vanderbilt bowling team was able to fufill. The national champions get a meet and greet with the president of the United States at the White House.
After Oregon State won the title in 2006, the Beavers weren't able to work it out, but after repeating as champions, now both the '06 and '07 squads will make their way to the West Wing next weekend to meet President Bush.
The Beavers became the first team in 10 years to repeat as champions in baseball, after they defeated North Carolina for the second straight season in the CWS Finals. Head coach Pat Casey told OSUBeavers.com, that it's going to be a thrill for his kids to get to go to D.C.
"It's a great time for our guys to stand outside the nation's capitol and realize what it means to live in this country and have the opportunity to chase dreams," Casey said. "We were doing that in the College World Series. People are doing that in life. It will be a great time for our players to get a history lesson on what it means be a United States citizen and how great a country this really is."
The trip will take place September 22, just about a week after fall practice begins.
In other Oregon State news, Casey remains pretty quiet about his newly formed in-state rival Oregon and their new head coach George Horton. Casey hasn't commented on the situation since it began back in July, and again this week, declined to comment.
But I think that tells us something about the way Casey really feels.
