No New Digs In '08
By Doug Kroll - September 14, 2007
For all of you that were hoping for South Carolina's new stadium on the river to be open in 2008, it looks like that won't happen. The school announced on Friday that not only are they added a whole bunch of money to the project, but that it is also way behind schedule.
During a press conference in Columbia today, this is what they had to say:
The committee approved a $7.6 million increase to the budget, raising it from $28 million to $35.6 million, and pushed the expected completion date of the project back to late August/early September 2008.
Ouch.
That means another year at Sarge Frye Field.

East Carolina isn't going to be too happy. If I remember correctly, they had told me they were opening the new stadium in '08. That would have been excellent. It still will be, but the cramped confines of Sarge Frye will have to do for one more year.
