Arizona takes to the field for the top of the 6th inning. Workman comes up to bat for WSU. He is walked, and Hill is up to bat. Workman steals 2nd. Baxter takes the plate with Bowser now at third. Baxter hits it, and in a move to get back to third Bowser is taged out.

#12 for AZ, Rhinehart hit a pop up fly that is caught by UNO left fielder Joey Butler. Wildcats go back in with no runs.
Up bating first for the New Orleans Privateers is Brandon Bowser. Arizona pitcher is lefty #46 Brad Mills, 4.09 ERA. Bowser gets a hit that goes right through the left fielder's legs, and gets to first base. Man, I dont know if the teams are tired or what, but the defense is kind of shaky. They are having trouble keeping the ball in their gloves. New Orleans has one run to start off the game. Butler gets to third base for UNO due to stumbly retrieving skills from Arizona. In comes #16 Butler for UNO's second run, batted in by Giavotella. Josh Tarnow gets a hit that is caught by the outfield, but Baxter comes in for the 3rd run. Ryan Eden becomes UNO's third out, and they lead 3-0
Dusty Coleman gets a hit to center field and he gets to first base for WSU. Dirks is walked by pitcher Ashman, and he goes to first. Schermerhorn's hit towards 2nd base gives the Shockers two outs at second and first. Sublett's hit is caught by Brendan Duffy in the right field and that is the 3rd out.
Wichita: ORU's Warfle gets the first homerun of the weekend
Bottom of the eighth, and Rob Musgrave is still in pitching for the Shockers. Van Kirk strikes out swinging. Pat Warfle gets the first homerun of the tournament for ORU. That now puts the Golden Eagles at 3 runs. Musgrave strikes out McQuigg for the Eagle's 2nd out. Genao gets a base hit, and the Shockers bring in #15 Kyle Touchatt to pitch as Rob Musgrave exits the field to a thunderous applause from the fans. Touchatt comes in with already 2 outs for the Eagles. Younger strikes out against Touchatt and that ends the 8th inning.
Wichita: bottom of the eighth inning for WSU and ORU
Bottom of the 7th, and ORU sends Duffy up to bat. Musgrave does well and strikes him out. Minissale earnes an automatic place on bat as he gets hit by the pitch. ORU's Kahaulelio hits it and it is caught by Dirks in center field for the Eagles' 2nd out. #25 Rothford hits a high foul and Sublett charges after it for the out, but is unsuccessful. Rothford hits it agian, but this time it is caught by Shocker short stop Coleman, and that is the 3rd out for ORU.
The Shocks send Sublett in to bat at the top of the 8th inning. He hits one between the center and left fielder, and makes it to second base. The Golden Eagles send in a new pitcher #16 Chris Ashman. Brown is the first Shocker up againsr Ashman. Brown strikes out swinging. Gillaspie gets a base hit, and Sublett advances to 3rd base. Sublett comes in with a hit from Workman that gives the Shocks 10 runs, and now 2 outs. Hill hits the ball toward the left, where it is caught and thrown to the first baseman, but he misses the catch and Hill remains on base. Gillaspie was able to come in and get the Shocks their 11th run.
Start of the 7th, WSU's Derek Schermerhorn hits one into the stands that lands with a loud bang. Schermerhorn hits one to the right field and gets on base. Sublett hits one that gives the netting behind homeplate a purpose. As Sublett his another foul ball, Schermerhorn tries to steal second and in the process twists his ankle. He is okay though and travels back to first. Sublett hits, and Schermerhorn safley makes it to second without injuring himself. After a meeting with Coach Stephenson, Matt Brown makes a bunt that gets him to first base. Conor Gillaspie comes up to bat with bases loaded. Shocker fans are going nuts! Gillaspie delivers, and Schermerhorn and Sublett come in for 2 runs. Shockers are now up 5 to 2. As ORU pitcher Hefner collects himself, Workman comes up to bat trying to send in Brown for another run. He does this with a double towards left field, and the Shocks now have 6 runs.
ORU sends in another pitcher, #8 Erik Crichton.
This time yesterday the game had been delayed due to threatning weather. Opposite conditions today, as it is a beautiful day in Wichita, Kansas. That sure is Kansas climate for you.
Gillaspie hits one to the center field that is dropped, but still was able to come back in and give the Shocks their first out. Workman is batted in for another run. Weber is the only Shocker on base as Dirks is up to bat. Dirks hits it past the second baseman and sends Weber from 2nd base in for the run. Shocks now up 9 to 2. Schermerhorn hits it, but it is caught and that gives the Shockers their 3rd out. What an exciting inning for the Shockers!
Workman is up for the Shockers at the top of the 6th, and is walked by ORU pitcher Hefner. Workman steals second as Tyler Hill is still at bat with 1 ball and 2 strikes. Hill hits one as ORU's center fielder Minissale catches it for the out. Weber hits one that flies past the third baseman and sends in Workman for the Shocker's 3rd run. Dusty Coleman hits one that gets him to first base. He hasn't been having the greatest of weekends so a place on base is good for Coleman. Dirks is up for the Shockers and gets a hit that is caught in a great dive by ORU's Kahaulelio, and Weber is out as well as Dirks. The Shocks scored one run in this inning.
Now it is time for the Eagles to have a shot. #28 McQuigg for ORU hits it to 3rd base and Conor Gillaspie sends the ball to first base for the out. Matt Brown catches the hit in the right field, and that is the 3rd out.
Sublett starts things off for WSU in the 5th inning on a stroll to 1st base. Brown gets a hit that is caught by ORU second baseman forcing the out at second and throwing the ball to first for two outs. The second baseman for ORU gets the third out hit by Conor Gillaspie, and the Shocks go scoreless for the 5th inning.
#25 for ORU, Rothford, sends a hit to 3rd base, and is thrown out at 1st. Van Kirk gets a hit that is missed by the left fielder for WSU and he gets to second base. Warfle is up, and he gets a hit that is caught by the 2nd baseman, and he is out at 1st.
Weber is out for WSU with a catch by the ORU infield. Coleman up for WSU, and hits a foul to the side hill at Eck Stadium. Andy Dirks up for WSU. He gets a hit to center field and makes it to first base. Andy Dirks really has had a good weekend so far. Schermerhorn gets a hit that is caugh by ORU and that is the 3rd out.
Dirks has a great catch in center field as he gets the out in the bottom of the 4th inning. Adam Younger strikes out for ORU's second out. Duffy gets a hit that is caught by SS Dusty Coleman, and thrown to first, but Duffy has already made it. Minissale hits a pop up that is caught in the right field the Golden Eagles' third out.
Finishing the 4th inning. Shocks and Eagles are tied 2-2.
Gillaspie is out at first in the 3rd inning for the Shockers. Workman strikes out swinging for their second out, followed by the out by Tyler Hill. The top of the 3rd ends quickly for the Shockers, as ORU gets ready for their chance at the plate.

WSU's Coleman catches a pop up hit by Minissale, and that's 2 outs for ORU. ORU's Kahaulelio gets a hit that sends him to 1st base, ORU's first hit of the afternoon.
After the 1st inning. The score stands at WSU 2 and ORU 0.
Sullivan walks another player at the top of the 2nd, Andy Dirks (WSU). Schermerhorn goes up, and gets a hit that sends Dirks to 3rd.
As ORU meets at the mound, WSU's mascot WUShock comes out to mingle with the crowd. Now a lot of people have no idea what WUShock is, and I am here to tell you that he is a shock of wheat (not a bumblebee). The great debate between none Wichita State students and fans has ended. ORU now brings in a new pitcher, #17 Jeremy Hefner. Sublett is the first Shocker up against Hefner. And Sublett is walked. Matt Brown is the third out for WSU, and the two teams head in with the Shockers going scorless at the top of the 2nd inning.
Bottom of the 2nd inning, ORU has two men on base. Carter McQuigg is up to bat, with a bunt that gets him out at first, but ORU advances to third and second base. ORU gets their first run of the game with #24 Brain Van Kirk coming into home plate on a single hit by Genao. ORU is on a roll with their second run by Warfle with a double by Younger.
Score is now tied 2-2.
After a brief meeting with his catcher, Musgrave was able to strike out ORU's Duffy for the 2nd out. Minissale becomes the Golden Eagles' 3rd out. Score still stands as it did before at the end of the 2nd inning.
Shockers are up to bat against Oral Roberts. Andy Dirks for WSU starts off the batting against starting pitcher for ORU, Jerry Sullivan. His first pitch was at 101. Dirks hits a single as the second baseman tries to dive for it.
Up next for WSU, #3 Schermerhorn. Another single for the Shockers. Sublett comes to the plate, and Dirk and Schermerhorn steal 3rd and 2nd. Sublett hit one that sends in Dirks and Schermerhon for 2 runs. Shocks up 2. Brown gets a bunt, but on the way to second, Sublett gets out, and Brown goes to first. Brown steals second as Workman is up to bat and is safe. Workman gets walked by ORU pitcher Sullivan, which is not common for Sullivan. Hill gets a foul that hits a camerman up on the roof of the ticket office. He waves to signal that he is alright. Ouch, wouldn't want one of those balls coming after me. Full counts for Tyler Hill, as he hits one to ORU centerfielder, and that is the Shocker's third out in a relatively long top of the 1st inning.
Today looks better than yesterday weather wise. Sunny skies look down on WSU and Oral Roberts as they warm up for their 1pm game. Last night the Shockers lost to New Orleans, and Oral Roberts lost to Arizona.
Now today, the Shockers face off the Golden Eagles, and playing at 7pm will be the New Orleans Privateers and the Arizona Wildcats.
Wichita: New Orleans Pulls it Out in the End to Win
Bottom of the 9th, and the Shockers need two runs to win. Sublett gets a hit that passes by the second baseman. He got to first, and #13 Ryan Jones comes in to run for Sublett. Brown up to bat, and Jones tries to steal second, but is out. Shocker's first out for the inning. Brown strikes out for the Shocker's second out. Gillaspie takes to the plate, hoping that he will not be the Shocker's final out. He hits a pop up to Center Field, and that is it for the game.
Final Score, New Orleans 7, Wichita State 6. The Privateers had 10 hits with 1 error. The Shockers had 16 hits with no errors. These teams played for a filled up stadium, with the attendance around 7,000.
Bottom of the 8th, and WSU's Weber is up with 3 balls, and 2 strikes. He gets a hit to the fence and that gets him to first base. Coleman has been strugling this game, and he strikes out swinging for the third time tonight. Andy Dirks hits the ball as it breezes past the first baseman's glove and gets on base. The Shockers go scoreless for this inning, and they head in.
Fourth pitcher for Wichita State, #4 Noah Krol goes to the mound. Up for New Orleans at the top of the ninth is josh Tarnow. Krol strikes him out and #8 Nick Schwaner steps up to the plate. Schwaner gets it, and speeds to first base. Anderson goes up to bat, and gets a hold of it sending him to first, and Schwaner goes to second. #30 Ryan Eden steps into the batting order for New Orleans. Eden hits it down center and sends in Schwaner for the Privateers' scoring.
Now for the 5th Shocker pitcher, # 6 Noah Booth. Gillaspie misses the tag on Anderson as Bowser is up to bat for New Orleans. New Orleans scores with a run batted in by Brandon Bowser, sending in Anderson. New Orleans 7, Wichita State 6.
7th inning, WSU's Dusty Coleman finally gets a hit on base, even with the efforts of the first baseman trying to tag him. Andy Dirks follows with a beautiful bunt that sends him to first. The crowds always goes wild for a successful bunt. Schermerhorn goes up to bat and hits it, but Dirks is out by the N.O. Short Stop. Bases now loaded, and Brown is up to bat. Strike one. Strike two. Hit between first and second base, and Schermerhorn and Coleman come in for 2 runs. Shockers now lead 6-4.
Workman gets hit on a pitch and is sent to first base. WSU now sends Tyler Hill to the plate. He gets a hit, but is out at first base. New Orleans up, and Giavotella hits a pop up foul that is caught by WSU's Gillaspie for the 2nd out. The Shockers hold the Privateers in the 8th inning.
It's about 9:00pm here at Eck Stadium, and WSU's Matt Brown tries to steal second for the Shockers as #34 Gillaspie bats. He attempt is not sucessful and he gets out. Gillaspie strikes out, and #22 Workman goes up to bat. Workman get a hit that flies past New Orleans pitcher Cryer, and stays at first base. Tyler comes up to bat and hits it straight to the left fielder, who picks it up and throws it back into the infield, as Hill goes to second.
New Orleans brings in a new pitcher now, #24 Stephen Whalen. He warms up with the catcher, as WSU fans "woooo" at him from the stands. WSU's Weber bats, as he gets a hit that sends Workman in for the tying run. Score is now 4-4. Tyler Hill slides into third, but not in time as he gives WSU their third out.
New Orleans is up to bat, and #17 Anderson stikes out against Womack. Womack continues, and strikes out #3 Jerrod Ware. WSU gets New Orleans their third out quickly to end the half as the entire crowd begins to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"...
Wichita: Night Falls on the Shocker/Privateers Game
#18 Bowser, New Orleans, becomes the first out for the Privateers. NO's Baxter hits a foul almost to 21st Street behind Eck stadium, but it goes into the parking lot and rests on a white pickup truck. Ending the top of the 5th, New Orleans did not score any runs.
As Tyler Field at Eck Stadium begins to be lit up by the towering stadium lights, WSU comes up to bat with Schermerhorn. He gets a hit only to be caught by New Orleans' center field. Sublett's hit suffers the same fate, and the Shockers get their third out.
Wichita State brings in a new pitcher, #26 Andy Womack at the top of the sixth inning. The score still stands at WSU with 3 runs, and NO with 4 runs. WSU has had 5 hits and NO with 7. NO#2 Giavotaella gets to first base on a hit. Senior for New Orleans, #29 Wolfe strikes out with Womack. Following the strike out, #12 Tarnow gets a base hit. WSU has a brilliant double play as they get out Tarnow and hitter Schwaner.
Wichita: Update 4-3 in the 4th inning, New Orleans
New Orleans does not get any runs from WSU's Capra as they end a very quick half of the inning. Conor Gillaspie bats for WSU and hits it down stright to New Orleans' first baseman, and that gives WSU their first out in the bottom of the fourth. #38 for WSU gets the second out with a pop up caught by NO. Weber comes up to bat for WSU and comes inches from it being inside to count as a homerun. Weber gets on it again and gets the RBI as Workman comes in for the run. The score is now 4-3, New Orleans.
3 balls, 2 striks for Coleman, feshman WSU. He sort of gets a hold of the ball, but it was caught by New Orleans second baseman, and that ends the inning.
Conor Gillaspie gets a hit to first for the Shockers to start off the bottom of the 2nd. A double out for Wichita State as Gillaspie tries for 2nd and Workman gets out at first. New Orleans get the third out from WSU's Tyler Hill, and that closes out the 2nd inning.
Ouch. WSU fans go crazy on a bad call by the umpire. Seems like not everyone is argreeing on calls.
NO's #17 Anderson hit a pop up caught by WSU's outfield. New Orleans already has 2 runs against WSU at the top of the 2nd. I might add that there are a lot of happy fans walking away with balls today from all the fouls. Let's just hope that no one was injured when they landed.
Not so happy with the walk that Banwart let go by, so WSU is now putting in #35 Anthony Capra to take over the pitching. Capra warms up with Shocker catcher Tyler Weber. Capra comes into the game with 2 outs already against New Orleans.
Double steal for New Orleans as WSU freshman Dusty Coleman tries for the out at second, but it does not happen. New Orleans steals third as #18 hits, but WSU catches his ball for the third out.
Well rain can't stop baseball, but lighting sure can, and will. Arizona beat Oral Roberts today 4-3 with an one hour and seventeen minute rain delay. I guess I was correct telling people to bring an umbrella.
Well the forecast shows the chance of showers, but we are all keeping our fingers crossed (and an umbrella close by) for this weekend's game. New Orleans, Arizona, Oral Roberts, and home team Wichita State get to duke it out for the tournament title June 1-4.
