Dogs punch ticket to Omaha with 8-5 win

Mississippi State advanced to the College World Series for the first time since 1998 with a rousing 8-5 victory over the Clemson Tigers. Mitch moreland came in for Aaron Weatherford with 1 out and 2 on in the bottom of the 9th to save the win. A NCAA record crowd of over 13,000 fans cheered and rushed the field as the last out was made.

Game 2 Matchup

It's 7 AM on a Saturday morning, and I am sitting in the Leftfield Lounge at Dudy Noble Field. Things are setting up for a great game 2. Folks are already out and cooking around the outfield, and feeling the effects of 94% humidty at this time. Game time is calling for temps of about 85 with 65% humidity!!! And the matchup on the field should be even hotter than that!!

Lollar gets birthday present, Dogs get win!

John Lollar turned 22 on THursday of this week. On Friday, he got a late birthday present, and shared it with the entire Mississippi State team. Lollar, the junior pitcher from Germantown, TN was the winning pitcher Friday in the Bulldog's 8-6 win over Clemson.

Dogs win 8-6

Dogs win 8-6 over Clemson. Clemson jumped to an early 2-0 lead, then saw it vanish on a Connor Powers 2 run homer in the 5th. Clemson responded with a 3 spot in the top of the 6th, only to see MSU reply with a 4 run bottom of the 6th to take a leadd that they would never give back.

John Lalor picked up the win in relief, and Aaron Weatheroford got the save.

Attendance was announced at 12, 620......Largegst ever crowd for a SUper Regional. It was only the 7th largest crowd at Dudy Noble Field. Fans in the outfield celebrated the victory and were settling in for a long afternoon of babrbecue and celebration.

Let the games begin

Well it's finally time. Baseball in June at Dudy Noble Field on the campus of Mississippi State University. And who better to help Mississippi State bring it in, than the Clemson Tigers. These two teams are no starnger to each other, having played each other in 2006 at the Clemson Regional. THis year, the stakes are raised a bit, as the winner moves to the Big Diamond, Rosenblatt Stadium, and a berth in the college world series. WHo will it be? Let's find out
